Imagine the vowels and cobblestones of Brussels whispering stories of times gone by... Walk with us through the heart of the city and listen to the echoes of the past.
From banal neighbourly squabbles to joyous entries of a new monarch. The streets tell of power, wealth, daily life and so much more.
But much of this past is still unexplored. Well preserved in ancient archival sources, such as court records and craft registers, many stories are waiting to be told.
On this walk, historians from the VUB's Social History of Capitalism research group will lead you through the city centre. They will stop at unexpected places and show you the sources and stories that shed new light on an unsuspected past
