This semester, Klaas Van Gelder is on research leave at Saint Mary’s University in Halifax, Canada. He collaborates with Prof. Tim Stretton on the topic of women going to court in the early modern era. He has given a Stokes Seminar on gendered patterns of litigation at Dalhousie University last week and will give a History Seminar at Saint Mary’s on December 13. He also spent one week in the City of Quebec for a lecture at Université Laval and for a prospection in the Archives et Bibliothèques nationales du Québec with the goal of setting up comparative research on uses of justice in colonial New France.
