Early July, SHOC colleague Charlotte Van Riet attended the Radiocarbon & Diet Conference in Santiago, Chile, held at the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile.
During her presentation, Charlotte took the audience to Medieval Ypres, and shared the first results of her PhD research. She highlighted how a combination of methods - here radiocarbon dating and isotope analysis - can shed light on chronological developments in the early city-population, rather than primarily reflecting socio-economical differences.
