From January to April, our colleague Bart Lambert is a Visiting Fellow at Clare Hall, University of Cambridge — one of Cambridge’s institutes for advanced study, dedicated to supporting postgraduate researchers and international scholars.
During his stay, Bart is exploring the roots of anti immigrant sentiment in fifteenth century-England. His research examines complaints by English artisans who claimed that foreign craftspeople were taking away their customers. By analysing accounts of consumer spending preserved in the archives of several Cambridge colleges, he sheds new light on how attitudes towards migration, labour, and competition were shaped in the late medieval period.
We wish Bart a stimulating and productive time in Cambridge!
