Ellen Roelandts joins HOST as a PhD researcher on the joint doctoral project ‘Attitudes towards wealth and redistribution in Belgium since the 19th century’. The project is a cooperation between the Katholieke Universiteit Leuven (KUL) and the Vrije Universiteit Brussel (VUB). In Leuven, Ellen is member of the Centre for Sociological Research (CeSo). She is supervised by Prof. Dr. Cecil Meeusen (KUL) and Prof. Dr. Wouter Ryckbosch (VUB).
Ellen holds a Bachelor's and Master's degree in Sociology (KUL). Throughout her studies, she focused primarily on developing skills in quantitative research methods. In her doctoral thesis, she examines public attitudes toward wealth redistribution and wealth inequality throughout Belgian history. How are public opinion, redistributive policies and wealth inequality interlinked, both in historical perspective and today?
